An underlying vampire context to Broken, inspired the music video for it, shot in an abandoned warehouse in Christchurch. "I realised there was a vampire sub-text in the lyrics only after I'd finished writing them and suggested the theme for the video, mostly because I wanted to distance myself from the emotion of the song. I was very fortunate to get Logan McMillan (Gorilla Pictures) as the director and Luna Rioumina (Auckland-based model and singer) as the leading lady. All these things have culminated in a very stylish end product."
Dave says in the video there's a strong, but bizarrely unintentional, symbolism to the Marat paintings/sketchings of La Morte de Marat by David and other artists, with the water raining from Luna's fingers in the bath and the blood dripping off his hands from the bed.
